mining
At the K+S Werra plant, rock salt and potash salt are mined at a depth of approximately 750 meters. The deposit formed about 250 million years ago through the evaporation of ancient seas in what is now central Germany and is one of the region’s most significant salt deposits.
The site in the Werra potash district was at one point facing closure. In cooperation between the works council and the workforce, measures were developed to secure the site and continue salt mining.
