Sendehalle Weimar
The Sendehalle Weimar is a building with a complex history. It was constructed in 1937 as a Nazi “Nietzsche Memorial Hall,” but was never officially opened. Subsequently, it served as the GDR’s broadcasting center for more than five decades. After 1989, the building was used as the MDR’s regional broadcasting center until the turn of the millennium. It subsequently remained unused for an extended period. Since 2024, the Sendehalle has been undergoing redevelopment by the Sendehalle Weimar Foundation. Plans call for its future use as a venue for history, education, and cultural activities. A comprehensive renovation is planned in parallel. My work involves documenting the architectural condition of the building at the time of acquisition and mapping the existing building fabric.
